Aledo

Aledo is a city with a rich history, in fact, it is the oldest city in Parker County. The city traces its origin all the way back to 1879, during which period the Texas & Pacific railroad expanded in the region. During that period of time, the stations in the area were an important distribution point of buffalo hides. The original name of Aledo was actually Parker Country, following a letter that was marked to 'Parker County' in 1882. However, the name was changed to Aledo just two years later.

Since the mid-1990s the city of Aledo has been experiencing rapid growth, yet it has managed to remain its peaceful small-town feel. In this article, we are going to be telling you about everything that this amazing Texan city has to offer.

Population

According to 2019 data, the population of Aledo is 4,181 people. And it has been rising rapidly over the past decades, for example in 3 out of 4 previous decades, the percentage increase has been either around or over 50%. Its popularity can be put down to the rural feel of the city which makes it attractive for individuals that do not like living in highly urbanized places. Moreover, Aledo is great for families thanks to the great educational institutions in the area which we will discuss in more detail below. Additionally, there is a high ownership rate which has many benefits such as better relationships with neighbors and lower levels of crime.

Cultural Events in Aledo

There are a number of interesting cultural events organized in the city every single year. First of all, there is Aledo-Fest which takes place in October every single year. At the Aledo-Fest you can listen to live music while checking out all of the interesting things that local businesses, as well as everyday people, have to offer.

On the other hand, you have the Aledo Summer Blast which is generally held in early June and is essentially a mini-theme park with a variety of rides and things to do as well as local food outlets if you happen to crave a snack. Nearly every Monday in the year, there is the Aledo Farmers Market where locals can check out and if they like what they see buy local produce as well as homemade food such as cakes, salsa, and wine.

Places to Eat

A huge selection of food outlets is located in Aledo, mainly on the Farm to Market Road 1187. If you want to try some high-quality Italian dishes such as pasta and pizza then you have Joe's Pizza Pasta. Alternatively, there are other fast food and fast casual restaurants for you to choose from such as Sonic Drive-In and Bearcat Grill. If you are feeling a sweet tooth then you have Aledo Donut as well as more premium options such as Palio's Pizza Cafe.
