Kimbell Art Museum
Arguably, the Renzo Piano Pavillion and the Louis I. Kahn buildings make the Kimbell Art Museum a work of art by itself sitting on the ground. But beyond the beautiful building walls, though, you´ll find a collection of beautiful artwork from some of the best-known masters in history.
What started in 1936 as the wild idea of collectors and friends opened its doors in 1972. Nowadays, the collection grew to 350 artworks that not only touch on the highest aesthetic standards but also epitomize a historic moment in the art for humankind.
The Museum´s Collection
The museum´s collection features some very prominent names in the history of art both indoors and outdoors. For example, you can admire Joan Miró´s _Woman addressing the public: project for a monument_ (1981) in broad daylight and stand in the hallway, next to the infinite complexity of Picasso´s _Man with a pipe_ (1911) to contemplate it for an hour.
Other prominent names are Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Claude Monet, and Amadeo Modigliani, among many others such as Paul Cézanne. These pieces all belong to the steady museum collection, which means that are up for viewers every day.
Special exhibitions
Unlike the museum´s collection, special exhibitions are only up for display for a limited time and rotate throughout the years. The exhibitions you can visit right now are:
