Types of Common Pests

PESTS THAT MIGHT BE LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE

Just like any other animal, bugs and other pests have their place on this Earth and they have their function. However, none of us are glad to find a bug in our home; much less when that bug turns out to be a sign of something bigger !

By the time you find a bug inside your house, it is completely possible you already have an infestation. Don't waste any time: call a professional right away. A professional pest control service will be able to tell you more about if you have an infestation, the magnitude of it, how to get rid of it and how to prevent it from coming back.

However, knowing what type of pests could infect your house will not only help you keeo them away from you; but it can help the pest inspection go much smoother as well if you already have an infestation.

TYPES OF COMMON HOUSEHOLD PESTS

-Dust mites: Even if you don't like the idea, every house has dust mites. Since mites feed on skin and dust cells they can thrive in any surface that is plush: toys, carpets, bedding... While you cannot fully eliminate dust mites, it is completely possible to keep their numbers controlled with regular cleaning.

-Weevils: Weevils can get into your house by crawling into your grocery bag, or by nesting in a nearby damp place. Once inside our house they will nest inside your unsealed food, and you won't know you have an infestation until they hatch. Keeo them away by storing all your food correctly, i hermetically sealed containers.

-Centipedes: This bugs are not harmful at all, but they look pretty scary and their poison can cause some pretty painful bites.Centipedes actually eat mites, termites, moths and cockroaches. However, if you cannot tolerate living with this critters, make sure to clean up all the brush and debris around your house and sealing any cracks or splits they could use to get into it.

-Carpet beetles: While carpet beetles will not harm your house, their larvae will eat holes into your upholstery, curtains and carpets. If you suspect you have an infectation, do a thorough cleaning: vacuum an area with dust bunnies or cobwebs, remove any old clothing that might be in your storage bins and send everything else to the dry cleaners.

-Termites: There are two main types of termites. One prefers to live in damp environments while the other nests inside the wood in your house. A professional will be able to tell you which type do you have and how to deal with it.
